Getting to the Finish – Workshop by Chris Willey at the Cathy Kline Gallery – July 5, 6 & 7, 2018

Please join Chris Willey for a 3-day workshop at the Cathy Kline Gallery on July 5, 6, and 7, 2018, sponsored by the ISAP (International Society of Acrylic Painters) show that will be exhibiting at the Gallery.

There are lots of strategies for creating a “finished” painting. Creating a painting takes a surprising amount of thought and vision. We will discuss how to use thumbnails, reference, and painting from life. Also, how to plan out your painting enough in the beginning so that you know it is a solid design, but also how to embrace the spontaneity of the painting process.

Chris will be painting in oils. Acrylics, casein, gouache, and pastels (any opaque medium) could also work. We will be working relatively small – 8×10 to 12×16 is the recommended size range. Chris will demo on an 11×14 panel – small enough to complete, large enough for you to see.

When: Thursday-Saturday, July 5, 6, & 7, 2018: 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
